The evening was a tribute to Randy Howard, Charles Sawtelle, and
          Roy Huskey
Jr. and since recording was not allowed by the
venue, this had to be recorded
in a rather stealthy manner (no,
I did not record this - I'm just helping to
spread the music!),
thus the less than perfect quality. However, I highly
doubt if
many (or any) other recordings of this historic evening exist.
          The
show was over 4 hours long and featured many performers
          each doing about a
10-15 minute set. Also appearing were John
          Hartford, Tim O'Brien, Marty
Stewart, Aubrey haynie, Sonya
Isaacs, Larry Cordle, Jamie Hartford Band, and
many many
others. I believe the evening's proceeds went to fund a music

scholarship for the Nashville area. Emmy's set was the final
          set of the
evening, and is represented here in it's
          entirety.

 glimpse into the genius
of New Orleans piano king James Booker, bringing a new (Orleans)

 the JGB sound.

I have the pleasure to announce a tree for the distribution of a
          Go Ahead
show from Graffiti Showcase here in Pittsburgh. Go
Ahead was a side band for
Brent Mydland and Billy Kreutzmann
while Jerry recovered from his coma. This
tour included Alex
Ligertwood and Dave Margen from Santana's band and Jerry
Cortez
of the Youngbloods and Jesse Colin Young. The show was recorded
          on
the club owner's Nak and I got his masters to make my first
          gen copy (also
dubbed on two Naks). I have made copies of my
tapes for a few people over
the years so the show is in limited
circulation but thanks to Howard Gault I
am now able to bring it
into the digital world. Lineage is SBD > MAC > C >
DAT > CD and
          sounds very nice indeed.

quality is not an "A". It sort of sounds like a bit of FM
          distortion
Since you must like these guys I think it's a good choice,
even though they are noisier than most modern recordings. I
certainly play it - and I have some recording I don't play
because of (mostly crowd) noise. the sound quality is not an "A".
It sort of sounds like a bit of FM distortion. Not terrible.
Certainly listenable - just not sterling.

Recorded and mastered by Bruce Harvie.

>From Bruce Harvie:
It was billed as "The Whites", with Skaggs
and Douglas in the band, but the
surprise opening band was
Skaggs, Rice, Bush, Phillips, and Douglas playing
selections
from "Manzanita" and other stuff from that era. The
          announcer
said that they were broadcasting the show, so I
heading out to the lobby and
called my friend to slap a reel on
the Ampex--we missed the first 30 seconds
of "Little Cabin
          Home..." Oh well...

The cool part of the show was the passing of the mando/fiddle
          between Sam
and Ricky and noting the differences in the
          styles.
Downside: Ricky raps...
The Whites had a hard time
          following that set, BTW...
